Description

Famously described by Napoleon as the champagne of England, perry really is the epitome of true English wine. This is our first traditional method perry. It brings together two French varieties of pear – Longbois and Antricotin – grown close to us on Throne farm in the village of Weobley by the gifted and thoughtful Stephen Ware.

These were pressed together and fermented in tank using the native orchard and pear yeasts before being sent to bottle for a second fermentation. After just over a year of lees aging the bottles were hand disgorged a la volee.
This has resulted in something quite special. With wonderfully bright aromatics, all brioche, honey, ripe pear and blossom on the nose, in the mouth it’s supremely elegant, with a plush, luxurious, creamy mouthfeel cut through with fine, bright acids. This framework carries a complex array of flavours – those honey and floral notes are there along with sweet ripe pears, joined by lime, thyme and a hint of anise.

Awesome as an aperitif but very at home with simply cooked seafood, soft cheeses and summery salads. 750ml. 8%
