Description
An excellent variety, thought to originate between Much Marcle and Dymock. A generous cropper, this pear was favoured as it has a very upright growing habit, making it ideal for orchards grazed by cattle, as the branches all grow out of reach of the livestock. One synonym is ‘Longstalk, which this perrymaker thinks is a much more exciting name – alas, Turner’s Barn has stuck. The flavour is crisp and tangy, reminiscent of the very best sherbet. A favourite. 500ml. 6%
